Electric Trio

Craig Campbell and John Thackray have joined Al Bowers on the Daedalus electrical engineering team. Each of them brings something different, with Craig’s experience in FDA medical and telecommunications and John’s experience in miniaturization, portability and intrinsic safety augmenting Al’s experience in mechatronics, automation, and robotics. What they share is years of DFMA-driven, production and service-ready design experience.

Craig Campbell has worked in the medical, telecom, digital video, and computer workstation industries. His previous position was with Ericsson/Marconi/Fore where he served as Manager and Principal Engineer for the ViPr Virtual Presence Terminal project, Principal Engineer in the Technology Sharing Initiative, and Principal Engineer/Architect on several large switch/routers. Craig participated in the development of the PICMG telecom standards for ATCA and MicroTCA, and was responsible for reliability modeling and assessment for multiple projects. Craig holds a variety of patents in telecommunications and medical devices, and is widely published. His working career has included stints in Western Pennsylvania and Silicon Valley. Born and raised in Indiana, Craig holds a degree in Computer Science from Indiana University.

John Thackray's core expertise in board level design for industrial instrumentation is coupled with extensive knowledge of worldwide intrinsic safety standards. As a veteran designer of portable gas detectors, he is extremely adept at developing compact, lightweight and rugged systems with long run times. Before joining Daedalus, he was responsible for a variety of devices for Draeger, including the PAC Ex 2 multigas monitor and the high volume / low cost PAC 1,3, and 5000 lines. Born and raised in Newcastle, England, John has lived in the United States for most of his career. John holds a degree in Physics, Microelectronics, and Computing from the University of Leicester.
